A Sleeping Giant

I'm gonna open this one up in memory of my favorite headphones of all time. Spoiler right off the bat, I am not an audiophile. An audiophile, for you who are unaware, are basically music junkies that claim all headphones are awful so they can feel more empowered about the 400$ set they are rocking. That aside, these give more power and bass than I ever imagined.

Skullcandy Hesh Headphones
At a very reasonable list price (49.99), these bad boys deliver every aspect you need to fully enjoy audio from anything with a jack in it. I personally own the discontinued Paul Frank model found here. I wanted something eye catching in design, colorful with a nice design on the can. Not the pinnacle of manliness by any stretch - but they get people looking at them which is basically what I wanted. I'll go over design, audio quality, durability, and an overall star rating in the next sections.

Design-
The overall design is not breathtaking, a basic over the ear headphone build, with a headband that matches the theme/color of the cans. Around your ears are a soft synthetic leather feeling material, that is very comfortable. You do know you have headphones on when you are wearing them, but you can go hours on end without feeling the need to take them off. Inside the cans is a protective soft material that prevents your ears from rubbing on the inner speaker (which I doubt would happen unless you are some sort of elf). The headband has adjustments that range from a small head to a giants head. These headphones do NOT swivel, which is generally a good thing - those are the first things to wear off on most headphones. There is a designated L and R under the respective ear to prevent any unsightly situations. The cord is a rope like material, which fully prevents tangling - which is always a great thing. There are currently 18 different designs for the Hesh, and it is unlikely they have none that interest you. So sporting a very orthodox shape, but having somewhat unorthodox color schemes the Hesh provide a way to express yourself boldly while enjoying the overall feel on your head.

Audio Quality-
WOW, is the only word to describe it. I have my iPod level maxed at 30%, for safety reasons. These bad boys can be cranked up and heard from across a household. They are basically speakers attached to your head when equipped. The clarity of the sounds is perfect in the over ear design. You can not have these on still want more power without going completely deaf. A very deep bass makes it excellent for almost any mainstream form of music available. I have never had a complaint over the audio, and most people that hear the golden goodness rarely want to give the headphones back.

Durability-
These headphones have been to hell and back my head. From working out with them until they are covered in sweat, to dropping them viciously, and from hardcore backpack adventures. The only design flaws I have encountered are the audio plug and the adjustable headband. I have a habit of pulling my ipod out of my pocket using the cord, doing this for an extended amount of time has loosened the wiring of the white wire which is the left audio speaker. After some work I managed to remedy this error, but it is wise to mindful of the cord as it is not indestructible. The adjustable headband slider is made of plastic and upon adjusting it is put at a weird angle that puts a crease in the plastic that potentially can break. This has never broke, but I have reinforced it with some duct tape just in case. Overall the plastic used is your basic conventional electronics plastic, which can take a very good beating before giving out.

Overall-
These are a most own pair of headphones if you have any interest in over ear headphones that are affordable. Anything cheaper will suffer audio and durability issues, and you should research more expensive products.. because these may be a better bargain for the same quality! With a unique look on each one that can help you stand out in a crowd and audio quality made for the gods.
